The Zambezi Dinner Cruise Boats, Compared by Name

Zambezi Breeze, Zambezi Reflections, Malachite and the Moon Dancer: who runs each dinner boat, courses, guests, times and price at Victoria Falls.

Updated November 2026

Four boats serve a sit-down dinner on the upper Zambezi above Victoria Falls. Pure Africa runs two of them: the Zambezi Breeze, its dinner boat for up to 70 guests with four courses, and the Zambezi Reflections, a floating restaurant for up to 24 with six. Wild Horizons runs the Malachite, four courses for up to 32 guests all year, and Bush Cuisine’s Zambezi Origins runs the Moon Dancer. The one you can book online with a live calendar is Pure Africa’s, from $110 a person (checked November 2026), with the Zambezi Reflections as an upgrade on the same booking.

Powerd by GetYourGuide

The calendar above is Pure Africa’s dinner cruise, sold on GetYourGuide as Victoria Falls: Dinner Cruise on the Zambezi River: three hours from the Pure Africa Waterfront with hotel transfers in Victoria Falls town, four courses on the Zambezi Breeze or an upgrade to six on the Zambezi Reflections, and alcoholic and soft drinks included.

The Zambezi Breeze: Pure Africa’s dinner boat

Pure Africa calls the Zambezi Breeze its dedicated dinner cruise boat: a steel catamaran 18 metres long and 6 metres wide, set on two levels, taking up to 70 guests with five crew. Pure Africa’s fact sheet lists the dinner as a starter board, a seasonal starter, a main course and dessert, with drinks included, from 5 pm to 8 pm. The boat runs dinner cruises only; at other times of day it goes out only on an exclusive charter. Guests on two levels of a 70-seat boat should expect a sociable evening rather than a quiet one: in the newest 350 reviews (April to November 2026), one guest called it more party than romantic, while solo travellers wrote that they were given a table at the front.

The Zambezi Reflections: six courses for 24

The Zambezi Reflections is smaller, 12 metres long, and Pure Africa describes it as a floating restaurant with meals prepared in its own kitchen. On the Classic Dinner Cruise it takes no more than 24 guests and no children under 12, and the dinner runs to six courses: an amuse-bouche, a cold starter, a hot starter, a palate cleanser, a choice of main course and dessert, with premium drinks and wines chosen to go with them, a welcome drink and a cold face towel. The boat cruises until after sunset, then returns to the Pure Africa Waterfront jetty, where the rest of dinner is served moored; drinks after 8 pm are paid for. Pure Africa’s own rate is US$185 a person (November 2026). The GetYourGuide listing above sells it as an upgrade to the four-course booking.

The Malachite: Wild Horizons’ dinner cruise

The Malachite is Wild Horizons’ dinner boat, a double-decker for up to 32 guests, sailing daily all year. It leaves the jetty at 5 pm from May to August and at 5:30 pm from September to April, with the hotel pickup half an hour before, and the evening lasts about three and a half hours. Guests start on the upper deck with sparkling wine for the sunset; after dark, dinner is served on the lower deck, four courses cooked on board by two chefs: a soup, a starter, a main course and dessert, with cocktails, imported spirits, beer, wine, soft drinks, coffee and tea included. Infants up to 2 go free and children aged 3 to 11 pay half the adult rate (Wild Horizons’ Malachite trade sheet, November 2026). Some of Wild Horizons’ itinerary pages describe the dinner as three courses, so confirm the menu when you book. No price is published; the Malachite is booked with Wild Horizons directly.

Booking agents in Victoria Falls also sell dinner places across several boats by availability. To do Africa, for one, lists the Zambezi Breeze, the Malachite and the Moon Dancer for its dinner cruise: see To do Africa's four-course dinner cruise, from $110 (checked November 2026). If the boat matters to you, ask which one before you pay.

The Moon Dancer: Zambezi Origins

Bush Cuisine sells its Zambezi Origins dinner cruise on the Moon Dancer, a double-deck boat, as a culinary journey: canapés, then courses that each take their flavours from one of the six countries the Zambezi flows through, with wines, beers and spirits, and return transfers from hotels in Victoria Falls. Premium brands and the park fee are extra, and the boat is wheelchair accessible. It had few reviews in November 2026, so it is a choice for someone who wants a different kitchen more than a proven one.

Not a dinner boat

  • The Zambezi Explorer is Pure Africa’s three-deck sunset boat for up to 150, with canapés and drinks; it serves no dinner. Sunset cruise or dinner cruise compares the two evenings.
  • Shearwater, Ra-Ikane and Pamusha run sunrise, lunch and sunset cruises on this stretch, with no dinner aboard.
  • The African Queen from Livingstone, on the Zambian bank, runs a Full Moon Dinner Cruise from US$90, sold on enquiry; its regular evening cruise is a sunset cruise with snacks. Zimbabwe or Zambia covers that side.
